Fatherhood Begins at Conception

When Murder is Justified.

The word “Abortion” brings so much heated debate.  Even believers in Christ find ways to be split on whether it is right or wrong.  While the Bible may not say “Don’t abort babies after the 2nd or 3rd trimester” or “Don’t abort babies at all”, it’s easy to understand God’s desire on this subject through just a few verses:

Verse 1:

– Psalms 139:13 (NET): Certainly you made my mind and heart; you wove me together in my mother’s womb.

OK, really, this should be the only step necessary.  God himself wove us together in our mother’s womb at conception.  Massive.  Still some people want to justify their actions and make up reasons why this doesn’t point to abortion being wrong.

Verse 2:

– Genesis 1:27 (NET): God created humankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them, male and female he created them.

So God knit us together, at conception… in his own image.  But he’s ok with us stopping that image from coming out into the world?  How can any believer read this and still think it’s fine to stop a life from coming into the World at ANY point?

Verse 3:

– Psalm 127:3 (NIV): Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.

I moved to the NIV version for this one (from the NET – my preferred translation) because the wording made more sense to me.  In abortion, we are taking God’s gift – God’s reward – and destroying it for our own means.

It’s time to “man up”

When it comes to being a father, MOST men that are looking into abortion, are doing so because they already made the mistake of sleeping with a woman that was not their wife and they don’t want to own up to their mistake.  Really, killing a child in the womb is not a cover up for the initial sin – it’s making the sin deeper and darker.  I encourage any soon-to-be fathers that are looking into abortion to man up.  Giving that child a chance at life and choosing to love that child will be one of the great blessings you’ll ever experience.

I'm a loving husband to a beautiful woman and I love Christ with all my heart. I have 3 children: 5 year old Kaydence, 3 year old Bastian, and my newborn girl, Maggie.

I have no illusions that I have this thing called "life" and "fatherhood" figured out. I'm just a father that is learning to be a better man and is also trying to help other fathers strive to be better men for their families and better followers of Christ.
